Officer Jones has been an employee of the Ministry of Environment (MOE) in British Columbia (BC) since 1997 and a member of the BC Conservation Officer Service (COS) in BC since 2005. Jones started his career with BC Parks Service and, before becoming a conservation officer, worked for other branches of MOE like Fish and Wildlife and Ecosystems as a biologist.
Jones directed a significant portion of his career towards predator conflict and has been a BC Wildlife Conflict Instructor for since 2013. He has been deployed to many predator attack responses involving cougar, grizzly bear, black bear, and coyote. As an instructor Jones has assisted in the training of recruits and fellow officers in problem wildlife and predator attacks and has been involved in helping develop wildlife conflict policy and training standards.
Jones started his career with the BC COS in the city of North Vancouver as a bear response officer responding to problem bear conflicts. Jones took several other postings in the interior of BC before landing in his current position in Kamloops BC.
